If I loved pain, I would be wearing SHOES!
It wasn’t running barefoot that left my feet raw and bleeding during my first marathon. It was friction and heat inside my shoes! I have since completed 79 marathons barefoot, and a total of more than 400 races barefoot, with only a small fraction of the pain and injury incurred by my shoes during that single first marathon (and only one I’ve ran in shoes).
