2012 Suggs Sports Medicine Symposium

Summary

Ken Bob Saxton will explain how and why barefoot running has helped thousands (perhaps more), and can help many more people reduce the risk of chronic pain and injuries typically associated with running in modern running shoes, and why running in the new crop of minimalist footwear, or racing flats may not yield the same benefits, and is often associated with their own dangers and injuries.

Saxton further will explain and demonstrate how barefoot running (truly barefoot) can actually be less risky, more safe (not perfectly safe — sorry, that’s life!) than many assume.

Saxton will explain why barefoot runners rarely discuss, and also answer, the often asked question; “What about broken glass?”

The goal of the symposium is to provide a review of the fundamentals in sports medicine as well as present the latest information on advances in these areas. This will be an excellent opportunity for ATCs, PTs and primary-care physicians interested in athletes to refresh their knowledge on a broad variety of topics.

The $75 registration fee includes lectures, educational materials, continental breakfast, refreshment breaks, lunch and a certificate of attendance.
