2019-05-05 International Barefoot Running Day, Playa Vista, California

The past few International Barefoot Running Day events in the Los Angeles area had been held near my home. And maybe one person or none would show up (other than myself).

So this year I thought I would hold Barefoot Running Day closer to Los Angeles, in the hope that people would be more likely to show up to an event more centrally located. It worked. There were 3 other barefoot runners (Chris, Dillon, and Dexter) besides myself and my dog, Kay (A.K.A. “That’s a Beautiful Dog”).

Also the weather was comfortably cool-ish for running (mid to high 60s Fahrenheit)

At the park where we were to meet, half the spaces were blocked off (presumably for a Cinco De Mayo event to be held there later in the day). The other half of the spaces were occupied with cars. So I parked down the road about half a mile or so, near the dog park. I was still almost an hour early, so Kay convinced me to let him play at the dog park. He played, and then we went back to the meeting location, and met up with Chris, Dillon, and Dexter, and we all ran back down past the dog park to Lincoln Blvd (about 2 miles). and then back to where I parked, so I could give each of the barefoot runners complimentary copies of Barefoot Running Step by Step.

We were running so fast, that a radar speed sign could not even post our speed in miles per hour. Instead it just told us to “Slow Down”.

Then we chatted for a while, took some photos, and then chatted a bit more, then we all went home or to friend’s birthday parties, etc..
