Ken's Feet on Wet Path

2024-09-24 Barefoot Camino Day 11 – Ken Bob Stays In Out of the Rain

We started near a little park near Cesantes, somewhere near or in Redondela, Spain

Today was raining on and off. Cheryl & Adreah got a late start, hoping to avoid the worst of the rain. It worked somewhat.

Just after starting near the Monumento a Jules Verne, and after we parked near Taperia O Eido Vello cabanas at the end of the first leg of today’s adventure, we lost connection with Chubby (my spare phone) for 25 minutes, which we’re using to track the location of Adreah & Cheryl while they’re walking. So that was a bit scary. But both had their own phones to call or text if they were in trouble, so we did not begin worrying too much, yet.

Then their location was suddenly updated and they were only a few miles away. My brother-in-law (our driver) got a cup of some sort of coffee drink (Ehew! I hate that stinkin’ stuff). I went to the other room full of pilgrims, said hello to the Hungarian, German, and English young ladies we’ve met a couple times – one expressed interest in my website & book because she was starting to go barefoot (but not ready for the Camino barefoot). She didn’t want to carry a book in her backpack along the way, so I recommended the E-book version of Barefoot Running Step by Step

Then the Crazy Danes arrived for their stamp, they didn’t stay long, because they wanted to get some distance in today.

The rain was letting up, so I walked back about a mile or so and walked back with Cheryl & Adreah, it was a wonderfully wet & muddy (but hard pack) trail, some nicely worn old cobblestone.

We drove next to a little park near Cesantes, so small it barely qualifies as a park. Several Camino pilgrims were missing the turn at the park, so it’s good we were there to point them along the right path. Good luck to those of you who pass by before and after we are there.

Once again I waited until Cheryl & Adreah were within a couple of miles so I could hike out about a mile, meet them, and hike back with them. Maybe less than a mile, since the hike out is a good time to take photos, and chat with other Camino pilgrims.

My left foot and arthritis seems to be holding up fine. In fact, a few miles walking each day seems to help a lot. However, several miles walking every day, after day, after day, seems to cause problems. So again, good that I’m navigating, helps both our driver, and my arthritis.
