International Barefoot Running Day! (coming soon)

International Barefoot Running Day is coming your way – if you happen to live near an event – if not, you can still feel free to celebrate by going for a barefoot run or walk wherever you live.

International Barefoot Running Day (IBRD) is the flagship of the Barefoot Runners Society being inaugurated 13 years ago. International Barefoot Running Day always takes place on the FIRST Sunday in May of each year (except 2021-2022 due to Covid-19) as it has since its conception. This year, IBRD will be held on Sunday, May 7.

Watch for upcoming events in your area at The Barefoot Runners Society Calendar for 2023 May 7.

I’m gonna dust off my running shoes… oh wait, I don’t have or need running shoes. Anyway, I would like to organize a simple get-together for locals, near L.A. O.C. Santa Barbara, Inland Empire, Etc… Or, if we want to get together at an existing 5K and/or longer run – preferably with a 5K event, because I’m not “running” much further than that now-a-days (actually mostly walking)… but anyway,  here’s a list of some running/walking events in California on May 7

Of course, I suggest meeting up for a fun run/walk in Huntington Beach, since the weather is typically more comfortable – also, If we meet at Bolsa Chica State Beach (Warner at Pacific Coast Hwy), I can walk to the event – though parking might be difficult (or expensive at Bolsa Chica State Beach, if the adjacent and FREE Sunset Beach parking is full – which it probably will be later in the morning … well let’s just keep it a morning event).

Probably would run/walk through the Bolsa Chica Wetlands (not in the nature reserve, but up by the bluffs, so we can bring our barefoot dogs). Or Huntington Beach Central Park also has some nice running/walking trails, sidewalks, and grassy areas, and a dog park, but might be hotter than at the beach.

Shoes and Beards optional…

  1. I’d be up for something! I know we are a ways out from IBRD but consider me in. I’m in SoCal as well, so am open to a HB visit, or whatever! Glad you’re still in the game Ken.
