International Barefoot Running Day, Huntington Beach, California.

In 2024 we took a little trip, on up to Bolsa Chica on top of the bluffs, we took Alan and his 3 kids, and Ken’s Siberian Husky, and Shelly ran too all over the place.

The kids and dog added to the fun and made the event one of the most fun and interesting exploratory fun run/walks of all time in the entire universe! And it was also one of the most beautiful days ever, too!

And though the Orange County (O.C.) Marathon was today, and lot of Ken’s friends from A Snail’s Pace Running Club went there instead. But there were still plenty of snails on the trail today. And no matter how fast we ran, the snails still managed, somehow, to get in front of us.

We ran and walked, on down the hill, and ran on the wall, Kay, the Husky, fell off a cliff and out of his harness and played in the flood channel. We ran through Pizza Park, and the kids played on the playground while Kay drooled over Pizza in the trash, and donuts in Alan’s hand.

We had no regrets about coming out for this run and walk, though we did see some egrets. And whenever there was a nice grassy area, Kay rolled over and scratched his back.

We visited the Alien City, and saw bicycles flying. One of the kids exclaimed, “It’s E.T.!” Then we wondered if someone is draggin’ their feet, does that make them a dragon? And if we see a horse fly, maybe we could also see a house fly?

I would tell you how beautiful the day and place were, but there’s plenty of photos below, so you can see for yourself. The April showers did their job, because there were certainly plenty flowers on this day in May! Though the flowers weren’t running, they were certainly wild…

We stopped to see a stink bug, but it wasn’t really smelly. Alan took the kids home. Then Shelly, Ken Bob, and Kay ran another mile, and we split up and all went home and Kay was ready for a bath, because he actually was smelly!
