Love it. You continue to be an inspiration, Ken Bob.
Agree with the previous comment Ken Bob. I love seeing new videos and content on your site and you are a legend!
Cool. People are still looking at my website!
Hi Ken,
Do you typically keep track of your cadence when you run? Or do you just go by feel? I’ve been using a cadence meter and it does help but it’s annoying at the same time…hah. (The beeping can drive you nuts!) In your book you touch on cadence meters, but is there any advice you have on being able to keep your cadence above 180 without using a cadence meter app?
Thanks – Chris
It’s not a bad idea to use a cadence meter to learn. But, not necessary once you have an idea what a faster cadence feels like. At that point, you probably won’t ever want to go back to a plodding cadence.
How about running in rain? Do your feet need to be conditioned for that? Im wondering about getting blisters, etc despite running BF whenever I run (so my feet are reasonably “conditioned”, but theres pretty much zero rain where we live)
Likewise here, little rain. But when it does… it pours. I was concerned before my first barefoot road marathon, which was January (rainy season here), and we had a torrential downpour most of the 4 and a half hours I was running or walking the race. I was wasted, tired, ready to collapse on my bed when I got home. But my feet were just fine. Secret is, technique. Don’t skid, slide, twist your soles while they’re in contact with the surface. https://photos.app.goo.gl/SJbcMa6q6LLHf9YL8
Thanks for posting the pics! Very cool you recorded it.
I know you mention frequently how important it is to bend you knees. On different types of surfaces can the degree of knee bend vary? I try to focus on bending my knees but have realized on certain surfaces my knees straighten a little more, and then bend more on more challenging surfaces.
