Low-Tide Run at Surfside, California

International Barefoot Running Day, Sunset Beach (Los Angeles Area)

2023 May 07 at 7:00AM meet on the Greenbelt in Sunset Beach, California between South Pacific Avenue and North Pacific Avenue at Anderson Street, just steps away from the famous Water Tower House (available for rent less than $1000 per night minimum 7-nights).

Parking is FREE in Sunset Beach, all along the greenbelt, and on Pacific Coast Highway (and on a few side streets), but fills up fast on Sunday mornings in May. So don’t wait until late morning to show up… besides I won’t be waiting until late morning anyway.

I’m not going to bring a canopy, just look for the weird long-haired, bearded, barefoot guy with a crazy beautiful Husky…

Beautiful Husky (Kay) and Barefoot Ken Bob

We can run on the beach at Surfside (low-tide is at 6:34AM) for about a mile up to the Seal Beach/Huntington Harbor breakwater, or if someone doesn’t want to get wet and sandy, we can run south on the greenbelt for a bit longer than a mile, and back. For those who want to run longer, the Bolsa Chica State Beach multi-use path begins at the south end of Sunset Beach, and goes on another 8+ miles.

There’s a public restroom at 25th street on the Greenbelt. I think they open by 7AM.
